Swing! Tour

Bio: Keeb Knight was born in London. He grew up in the cities of Detroit and Philadelphia.  Currently living in Philly, he enjoys writing erotic, multicultural, urban, and romantic suspense stories. His first published story, ‘Mandatory Overtime’ is featured in Zane’s Eroticanoir Anthology: Caramel Flava, which made the New York Bestsellers List in its first week. He’s currently working on two urban erotica novels and various short story projects.

1. Why do you write erotica and what do you love best about it?

I write erotica because it comes natural to me. And it can be incorporated into just about any genre. I’m a very, very, very sexual being. To the point where I want to share what goes on in my mind. And what better way to share erotic thoughts (without getting into trouble) than to put in the form of an erotic story. What I like best about erotica is that you can blend reality and fiction into a story and still call the whole thing fiction. As a writer some of the best parts of a story come from your life experiences. Whether you were involved directly or indirectly in those experiences. An when you have the ability to mesh the these with your imagination your finished product comes off as something readers can really delve into and becoming one with your story. And at the end or the mix of it all no one knows what was pulled from reality and what wasn’t. All that really matter is that the reader comes away entertained that and thoroughly satisfied.

2. Tell us about your story in Swing! Adventures in Swinging by Today’s Top Erotica Writers and please feel free to give us an excerpt.

This story is about an interracial race couple with busy lives that contemplates getting back into the swing of things (pun intended). It’s been a while for this sexy hard working couple. Some how a swing club membership card (that still has some life in it) is found and that’s when things start to get rolling with this busy couple who barely have time for each other, but deep down really want to put the spark back into their sexual lives. What a way to kick things off than to make use of live membership card at your favorite swing club. Here’s an excerpt from my story ‘The Gerswins’:

“…Anyway, Mikel, it just so happens that last month I came across our membership card to the Hedo Den Swing Club. And guess what?”
    “What, dear?”
“Our membership doesn’t expire until next month. Actually about three weeks after your birthday.”
“So you withheld this important information from me, why?”
“Well, like I said I didn’t think either of us would be entertaining the thought to even do this anymore.”
“Okay. Enough said. Let’s go for it! I want us to go swinging on my birthday next week,” he said with assurance.
Zuri looked at his childish behavior, shook her head and smiled. “Mikel, what do you think the chances are of your librarian friend buying into this lifestyle. You know it’s not for everyone. And how do you suggest we approach her?”
“I haven’t thought that deep about it since we’re just now discussing it. But I think we might have a chance.”
    “What do you mean?”
“Well, she’s been checking me out.
“That’s her job, Mikel. To check you out,’ she said cunningly.
“Don’t be funny. You know what I mean.”
“Big deal. I’m always checking men out.”
“And this makes her a swinger.”
“No, it makes her at the very least a potential swinger. She doesn’t just give me a passing glance. I can feel her eyes.”
“You can feel her eyes ripping your clothes as she checks out your books that you’re so not reading. This gives her swing potential?” she said laughingly.
“Ha!  Funny. You’re not a man, so you wouldn’t know?”
“Oh, thank the heavens I’m not a man. You have it so rough getting eye-fucked by a pretty librarian.”
“Yeah, it’s just one of the perks that come with my library card.”

3. Name some other books where we can find your work.

Eroticanoir Anthology: Caramel Flava, edited by Zane featuring my story Mandatory Overtime’.

4. What are you working on now?

Over the last few months I’ve been working on an erotic novella. It may turn into a novel if it keeps going the way it’s going. This project is basically of the nature where a Cougar (an over 40 woman, still in the prime of her life) has every intention of devouring a young delicious man for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and sometimes as a late night snack. He literally has no choice in the matter. Well, of course he does, but when you have a hot as hell cougar with the stamina of a twenty-five year old on the prowl all logic might just as well go out the window. It’s ironic that Jolie du Pre has a call for a Cougar story. While I’ve been writing this story I’ve wondered will anyone still want a cougar story. I guess they still do. I may have to paraphrase the novella down to a short story and submit it while it’s still at 450 degrees Fahrenheit!

5. If you could offer one piece of advice to a new author, what would it be?

Write often and READ often. Read, read, read, and read some more. Read the best authors you can get your hands on. I read veteran as well as debut authors. If they have a good story I’ll read it. And if it’s written well you’ll know it and learn something from it. Reading generates ideas, it helps expose you to various writing styles, uses of the English language, and it helps generate ideas. Ideas come from everywhere, but it’s important to read how stories are structured and how they flow. While I’m writing I like to write as though I am a fly on the wall and my characters have no idea I’m there. Once you take on a fly on the wall attitude to your writing you then know that your readers will become a fly on the wall themselves soaking in all that’s going on among your characters. I consider myself to be a very visual person and I like to think that most people who read stories want to be able to visualize that they’re there as the story is taking place so to speak. Let the characters do what they do and try to make it come off as realistic as possible. It goes back to what most of us as writers have heard over and over again. Show, don’t tell!

Thank you,

My First Blog on My Birthday…Cool!

Posted in Uncategorized on November 2, 2008 by keebknight

I don’t know what the heck I’m doing, but I thought I’d start a blog and see how far I can take it.  What better time to do a first blog than on your Birthday.  Anyway I’m just glad to be alive and make it to my XXth birthday.  Ha!

Actually one of the goals of this blog is to ignite my writing. I figure if I unleash thoughts here on this blog when I’m having a lazy moment then that lazy moment will turn into my being inclined to be productive toward my writing projects.  I’ve read and heard that there is no such thing as writer’s block.  Hmmm? I think there is such a thing. There are times when ideas hit me hard and they come flowing like Niagara Falls.  Then there’s times when I my ideas are non-existent.  To me this means a block. And with me it’s because I may have a lot of other crap going on in my head that suppresses my creative thoughts.  The crap that’s there usually has little or nothing to do with writing.

Anyway I got great news last week Friday!  I received an acceptance letter from Editor Jolie Du Pre of Logical Lust Publications for a story I submitted titled ‘The Gerswins’ to be publised in an anthology titled SWING! due to come out in the coming months.

Okay.  This first blog isn’t going to bad. Almost finished a cup of Maxwell house coffee. Let say this…I really don’t know if it’s really good to the last drop, but hey it’s giving a caffeine kick to get my morning going.

No writing today with the exception of this blog. I’m going to chill with family all day. about to head out for breakfast, later watch some Philadelphia Eagles football vs Seattle Seahawks, dinner, movie, play some my favorite video game James Bond: Everything or Nothing. This has got be one of the best games that came out in 2004. Yes, I’m a kid at heart. It’s another form of keeping my brain active. I’m looking forward to the the newest Bond movie: Quantum of Solace (as well as the video game).

So what are my plans for this blog? No much. I just want to engrave my name in your brain, unleash whatever is on my mind and inform you on the progress of writing projects that I’m either working on or promoting.

How’s that saying go?
‘So It Shall Be Written, So it Shall Be Done!’
